This class is a combination of classwork and computer work.  We will be using a program called ALEKS for most Algebra 1 content, supplemented by class activities that are intended to develop problem solving strategies and conceptual understanding.  The activities should also help students connect the content to real-world applications.  The computer program is individualized.  Students arrive to this class with varied backgrounds, and the computer program is designed so that prerequisite skills are reinforced prior to attempting new content.  Likewise, students that have a strong background can accelerate.

Since most of the work is done on a computer, homework will not be assigned daily.  However, if there is high-speed Internet access at home, students can certainly work on their individualized program at home as well as school.  Students that don't progress quickly enough may need to work on ALEKS outside of class time (at home, at the library, or in our Media Center).  I am availabe for individualized help during and outside of class time as well.
